Yupoo outerwear: buy for the job

Outerwear is where remote buying gets expensive. A coat has to fit across the shoulders, close properly, handle weather and survive shipping without losing shape. The margin for a bad guess is larger than with a tee.

We split the category by job: shell, insulator, statement. Each has different QC priorities and a different shipping profile.

Shell, insulator, statement

A shell needs seam and zipper checks. An insulator needs fill weight and baffle inspection. A statement coat needs structure, lining and hardware. Decide which job you are buying for before comparing listings.

Measurements over labels

Chest, shoulder, sleeve and length in centimetres. Compare with a coat you already wear. If the seller only gives a size label, ask for a measurement photo.

Shipping is part of the price

Coats are volumetric. Ask your agent for a packed weight and volume estimate before choosing a line. Vacuum packing helps, but it can crease structured pieces.

Checks

Before you commit

  • Ask for fill weight in grams on down pieces.
  • Check zipper, storm flap and cuff closures.
  • Confirm packed weight and volume before shipping.
  • Request a shoulder-to-shoulder measurement photo.

Outerwear: common questions

How do I judge warmth remotely?

Ask for fill type, fill weight and total garment weight. Those numbers are more useful than “thick” or “warm” in a description.

Are down jackets worth shipping?

They are light for their volume, so the cost is usually acceptable. Compare a single parcel with consolidation if you are ordering several.

What if the coat arrives creased?

Most creases hang out. Steam gently and avoid ironing directly on technical fabric. Structured wool may need professional pressing.

Can I return outerwear?

Ask before ordering. Outerwear returns are often restricted because of shipping cost and seasonal stock.

Which measurement matters most?

Shoulder width for structure, chest for layering, sleeve length for coverage. Check all three against a coat you own.
